We all know Easter is about sacrifice. A few years ago, I set out to capture the sacrifice of Easter in a film. After three months, “Bullseye” was born.
My church, Perimeter Church in Atlanta, used this film in their 2013 Easter service and received a wonderful response. I was pleased with the feedback, but surprised to hear a few months later that the film was posted on their website for just a few weeks and churches/people in 162 countries experienced “Bullseye”. It had gone viral!!
God’s ways are not our ways, and His call to follow Christ is more than we naturally want to give.
I think the video resonated with audiences because it captured the transcendence of Easter. The truth is sacrifice is hard and unnatural. If man had written the Easter story, Jesus would have lived in a palace, not died on a cross. God’s ways are not our ways, and His call to follow Christ is more than we naturally want to give. Only when we understand the sacrifice of Jesus – “that He gave it all, so that we can have it all,” as Randy Pope says – can we know God’s unfathomable love.
Praying you and your community experience God’s love in a transforming way this Easter.
